The winner of the May 18 Powerball $590.5 million jackpot has come forward, but is not participating in a press conference.

While lottery lovers with with baited breathe, the winner of the highest jackpot in Powerball history has claimed the prize.

However, in an attempt to protect personal privacy, the person in question is not willing to participate in a press conference. Lottery prize recipients are not required to participate in the press conference to receive their prize. However, in Florida recipients are unable to remain anonymous.

According to the Florida Lottery’s FAQ page, “Florida Lottery winners cannot remain anonymous. Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide the winner’s name, city of residence, game won, date won and amount won to any third party who requests the information; however Florida Lottery winners’ home addresses and telephone numbers are confidential.”
