Play at the ballpark with the Vermont Lake Monsters and the Vermont Lottery
The Vermont Lottery is encouraging people to play a little this summer with their favorite Minor League Baseball Team, the Vermont Lake Monsters.
The Vermont Lake Monsters are an A classified Minor League team in the Short-Season A New York-Penn League. The Lake Monsters are affiliated with the Oakland Athletics Major League Baseball team based in California. The Lake Monsters play their home games in Burlington at the University of Vermont Centennial Field. The team has been in Vermont since 1994, and was previously a New York Minor League team. The Lake Monsters were called the Jamestown Expos until 1994, and became the Vermont Expos. They became the Lake Monsters in 2005, in honor of Lake Champlain’s legendary monster, Champ.
The Vermont Minor League team has won three league titles in 1989, 1991, and 1996 as well as three division titles in 1995,1996, and 2011. Currently, the team is ranked ninth in the New York-Penn League, and need the support of their favorite fans so they can win the rest of their games this coming month.
The Vermont Lottery will be at games giving away prizes for all baseball fans. The first 100 fans to show up at a game with a “Champ is Back” scratch-off game from the Vermont Lottery will receive a prie from the Vermont Lottery. The Vermont Lottery will be at the home games on July 2, 8, 19, and 26.
