June 17, 2013 – Two big-winner tickets were sold last week at South Carolina Lottery retailers less than ten miles apart. One ticket won $100,000 and the other won $250,000.
Neither winner wished to release their name, but both Summerville men had stories for the South Carolina Lottery.
The man who won $250,000 stopped in at an EZ Stop store while on his lunch break and bought a $10 Big Money scratch-off ticket.
He told Lottery officials that when he got back to work and realized he’d won, he suddenly lost his appetite and threw his McDonald’s take-out into the trash.
“I don’t play to lose, I play to win,” he added.
After breaking even on the first $5 ticket, he scratched off the second FAN-tastic ticket to find out he’d won $100,000.
“I don’t show a lot of excitement,” he said. “But winning is kind of fun.”
Both men told the Lottery they’d be paying off their homes, and the retailers – EZ Stop and Oakbrook Express stores in Summerville – will each recieve a 1 percent commission for selling the grand prize winners.
Summerville is a city of about 50,000 people, and is about an hour-and-a-half drive from the South Carolina Lottery claims office in Columbia, S.C.
