Nov. 15, 2013 – Lisa Hensley and her husband Jim described the $1 million prize they claimed Thursday as the best welcome gift they could have gotten after they moved to Illinois about a month ago.
The couple moved from Indiana to be closer to family, and managed to grab a Halloween Millionaire Raffle ticket before the drawing on Halloween. That ticket won them one of four $1 million prizes, and they are the second of the four winners to claim.
The Hensleys told local WIFR News “we’re just kinda simple people,” and they aren’t in any rush to spend their newfound fortune.
Apart from buying a home close to their family in Capron, Ill., they told the Illinois Lottery they’ll share with family, set up college funds for their grandchildren, and do a little extra Christmas shopping this year.
The first of Illinois’ four new millionaires to claim his prize was Nicos Digrindakis, who bought his $1 million winning ticket at an Illinois Lottery promotion on his way into work.
It was the first time Digrindakis had ever bought a ticket for the Halloween Millionaire Raffle, and he won! His plans included buying a car and paying for his three daughters to go to college.
