Retail store co-workers win big

A group of co-workers from a retail store in North Carolina won $2 million from Saturday’s Powerball drawing in an office pool.

In hopes of winning Saturday’s record $590 million jackpot, the group pooled their money to buy a total 80 Powerball tickets. The clerk convinced one of them to upgraded to Power Play, causing their Match 5 prize to increase from $1 million to $2 million. Each co-worker will receive approximately $56,000 after taxes.

The group of co-workers from North Carolina bought their tickets in South Carolina, believing the taxes were lower.

On Sunday, the group realized they had won and began celebrating with one co-worker falling from excitement. Each co-worker has a different plan for their winnings, including paying off bills, paying for braces, vacations, and more.

The K Won Mart in South Carolina that sold the ticket will receive $20,000 commission.

Saturday’s jackpot is set at $50 million. Is your office going to play? Download the free LotteryHUB app to watch the drawing live with your co-workers.
