Feb. 23, 2014 – Nobody won the $40 million starting Powerball jackpot in Saturday night’s drawing, so the prize began climbing again since the jackpot was won last Wednesday.
Just one ticket sold near San Jose, Calif. matched all six winning numbers last Wednesday to win the $425 million jackpot.
The winning numbers drawn Saturday night were 2, 3, 13, 14, 54 and the red Powerball was 54. The Power Play number drawn Saturday was 5x, the highest multiplier available.
This is the first time since Power Play returned to a drawn multiplier that the 5x has been drawn. Winners who had added the Power Play option to their tickets will win five times the normal amount for third or lower prizes.
There was just one ticket sold that matched all five of the white numbers drawn Saturday. That winner, from New York, will receive Powerball’s $1 million second prize.
There were 17 other players who matched five of the winning numbers Saturday – four white numbers and the Powerball – to win the game’s third prize. Five of those players had added Power Play and will receive $50,000 prizes, while the other 12 third-prize winners will receive Powerball’s normal $10,000 prize.
Saturday’s drawing made more than 450,000 Powerball players winners. Altogether those winners scored more than $5.1 million in total prize money.
The next drawing will be held Wednesday at 11 p.m., and will feature a $50 million estimated jackpot with a cash value of $28.2 million.
