Jan. 9, 2014 – No Powerball tickets matched all six winning numbers drawn Wednesday night, so the jackpot rolled over four a fourth time, growing by $10 million. Ahead of Saturday night’s drawing, the jackpot prize stands at $80 million.
The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night were 10, 28, 39, 47, 58 and the red Powerball was 22.
There were more than 380,000 winning tickets sold ahead of Wednesday’s Powerball drawing; all those winners collectively raked in nearly $4.6 million last night.
Among the thousands of lucky winners, two players managed to match all five white numbers drawn Wednesday night, scoring $1 million second prizes. Those two winning tickets were sold in Florida and New York.
Neither player chose to add the PowerPlay option to their tickets, which would have doubled their second-tier prizes, making them multi-millionaires overnight.
A quarter of a million dollars in prize money was paid out to third-prize winners Wednesday night. Thirteen tickets matched four white numbers and the red Powerball.
Four of those players added PowerPlay to their tickets, and will receive $40,000 third prizes. The other nine third-prize winners will receive the normal $10,000 Match 4+1 prize.
Saturday’s $80 million jackpot carries with it a $44.1 million cash value. The drawing will be held at 11 p.m. EST, and as always, players can watch it live, right from their smartphone with the LotteryHUB mobile app for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
Be sure to check out the newest version of the LotteryHUB app, 4.0, which allows players to enter and save their tickets into the app. Select the “Notify Me” option, and we’ll send you an email when it looks like you’ve got a winner – staying on top of your game just got a whole lot easier.
Good luck Saturday night. You can’t win if you don’t play.
