April 24, 2014 – Florida has another big jackpot winner after Wednesday’s Powerball drawing; a single ticket sold in Florida matched all six winning numbers drawn Wednesday night to win a jackpot worth an estimated $148.8 million.
The big win comes a little over a month after one Florida winner scored half of a $414 million Mega Millions jackpot. Details as to where in the state Wednesday’s jackpot-winning ticket was sold have not yet been released.
Wednesday night’s winning numbers were 19, 25, 29, 36, 48 and the red Powerball was 12. The Power Play multiplier drawn was 4x, so players who added the optional multiplier to their tickets and won a third or lower prize will receive four times the normal prize amount.
Though just one ticket matched all six numbers, several players did get very close to splitting the big prize. Four players matched all five white numbers to win second prizes, and 22 players matched four of the white numbers and the Powerball.
Second-prize winning tickets were sold in California, Colorado, Maryland and Indiana. The winner in Indiana spent an extra $1 on Power Play, and it paid off in a big way – that ticket won $2 million, the highest non-jackpot prize available with Powerball.
Because the California Lottery plays all their games on a pari-mutuel basis, where prize values can vary depending on the number of players and the number of winners, the second-prize winner there will receive a little less than $1.1 million.
The second prize winners in Colorado and Maryland will receive Powerball’s normal $1 million second prize.
Along with the top-tier winners, more than 597,000 players won one of Powerball’s non-jackpot prizes. Altogether, non-jackpot prizes added up to more than $9.4 million Wednesday night.
The next Powerball drawing will be held Saturday night at 11 p.m. EDT. The jackpot will reset to its $40 million starting point, with a cash value of $23.4 million.
