Oct. 3, 2013 – No tickets sold ahead of Wednesday night’s drawing matched all six numbers drawn, and the estimated jackpot rolled over from $70 million to $86 million last night.
The numbers for the Oct. 2 Powerball drawing were 4, 6, 25, 42, 51, and the red Powerball was 17.
Although nobody won the $70 million estimated jackpot last night, three Powerball players were able to match all five white balls drawn, scoring $1 million second prizes.
The three million-dollar winning tickets from Wednesday night’s drawing were sold in Georgia, New Jersey, and West Virginia.
None of the three second-prize winners added Powerball’s PowerPlay option to their tickets. The PowerPlay option costs an extra $1, and had any of those three new millionaires added it to their tickets, they’d have $2 million instead of $1 million.
Four lucky third-prize winners did add the PowerPlay option to their tickets, landing themselves $40,000 prizes.
Along with those four PowerPlay tickets, 21 others were sold that won third-tier prizes by matching four white balls and the red Powerball.
Overall, last night’s drawing paid out $6,562,729 in prize money to 518,112 winners, including more than 86,000 who added PowerPlay to their tickets.
