Jan. 6, 2014 – No tickets were sold that matched all six numbers from Saturday night’s Powerball drawing, so the jackpot prize rolled over for a third time since a Kansas City couple scored a $71.5 million jackpot on the Christmas Day drawing.
Saturday’s numbers were 19, 20, 37, 41, 58 and the red Powerball was 14.
While nobody won the jackpot, there were more than 430,000 winning tickets sold for Saturday’s drawing. All of those winners collectively raked in more than $3.8 million in non-jackpot prizes over the weekend.
One lucky Powerball player from Maryland is starting the week a new millionaire after matching the first five numbers but missing the red Powerball, winning a $1 million second prize.
That ticket could have been worth $2 million with the PowerPlay option, which is a fixed multiplier for non-jackpot prizes. (PowerPlay will be changing to a drawn multiplier in just a few weeks – check back for more soon.)
Along with Saturday’s Match 5 winner, 14 players scored big prizes by matching four white balls and the Powerball. 12 of those players will receive the normal $10,000 second prize, while two Match 4+1 winners chose to add PowerPlay to their tickets for an extra $1, and won themselves $40,000 prizes.
The next chance for Powerball players to win big is Wednesday night at 10:59 p.m., when the drawing for the $70 million jackpot will be held. The jackpot prize is carrying a cash value of $38.6 million, so don’t forget to get your tickets before sales close Wednesday night.
As always, you can catch Wednesday’s drawing and every drawing live on your smartphone with the free LotteryHUB mobile app for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. Now, with version 4.0, the LotteryHUB app can even check your numbers for you. Save your tickets into the app, and you’ll get a message if it looks like you’ve won a prize.
Good luck Wednesday night and remember: you can’t win if you don’t play.
