Sept. 30, 2013 – No Powerball players were able to match all six numbers drawn Saturday, September 28, meaning the jackpot once again rolled over.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s drawing, the estimated Powerball jackpot sits at $70 million. Saturday’s numbers were 14, 47, 52, 53, 54, and the red Powerball was 5.
One lucky player from California was able to match all five white balls drawn Saturday night, scoring one of the game’s second-tier prizes, normally worth $1 million.
Because California plays the Lottery on a pari-mutuel basis, prize amounts can vary depending on the number of tickets sold. Rather than the normal $1 million prize, Saturday night’s Powerball winner can claim a $1,035,737.
Along with the second-tier winner from California, 26 Powerball players across the country managed to match four of the white balls along with the red Powerball.
Twenty-three of those players can claim a $10,000 third-tier prize, while three players chose to add the PowerPlay option to their tickets for an extra $1, and have won $40,000 PowerPlay prizes.
In all, Saturday’s Powerball drawing made 548,554 winners, who collectively raked in more than $4.65 million.
