March 31, 2014 – Nobody matched all six of the winning numbers in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing, so the jackpot prize rolled over to an estimated $60 million ahead of Wednesday night’s drawing.
The winning numbers drawn Saturday were 2, 3, 12, 27, 38 and the red Powerball was 17. The Power Play multiplier for Saturday was 2x, so winning tickets with the optional multiplier added will be worth twice the normal prize value.
There were two winners Saturday who matched the first five numbers drawn to win Powerball’s $1 million second prize. Those new millionaires are from West Virginia and California.
Because California pays lottery prizes on a pari-mutuel basis, where prizes vary based on the total number of players and winners, the second prize-winner there will receive a prize worth about $782,600.
Along with the nation’s two newest millionaires, 27 other winners scored Powerball’s third prize Saturday after matching four of the white numbers drawn and the red Powerball.
Twenty-two of those winners will receive the normal $10,000 third prize, while five other players who added the Power Play option to their tickets will receive $20,000 prizes.
Overall there were more than 460,000 winners Saturday night who collectively won more than $5 million in non-jackpot prizes.
Wednesday night’s drawing for an estimated $60 million annuity jackpot will be held at 11 p.m. EDT. The annuity jackpot carries with it a lump-sum cash prize worth about $35 million.
