Powerball Jackpot Rolls to $245 Million

Sept. 8, 2013 – The Powerball jackpot swelled to $245 million after nobody was able to match all six numbers drawn Saturday night.

The numbers drawn Saturday night were 2, 19, 22, 26, 45, and the red Powerball was 24.

Four lucky winners, one each from New Mexico and Michigan, and two from Illinois, were able to match five out of the six numbers.

Three of those second-tier winners will receive $1 million prizes, while one of the winners from Illinois will rake in $2 million, because they added the PowerPlay option to their ticket for an extra $1.

55 lucky Powerball players matched four numbers and the red Powerball to claim third-tier prizes.  Five of those players will have the normal $10,000 prize multiplied to $40,000 for adding PowerPlay to their tickets.

More than one million winning tickets were sold – 1,057,123 in all – an indication that jackpot fever is rising as the prize value creeps ever closer to $300 million.

Altogether those winners were able to collect $12,025,731 on Saturday’s drawing, with about $8 million going to regular Powerball players and $4 million won by PowerPlay tickets.

The drawing for the estimate $245 million jackpot will be held Wednesday night at 10:59pm Eastern Time.
