Jan. 30, 2014 – No Powerball players matched all six winning numbers in Wednesday’s drawing, so the game’s top prize grew by more than $20 million, reaching $194 million ahead of Saturday night’s drawing.
The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night were 11, 23, 28, 32, 47 and the red Powerball was 20. The Power Play number drawn Wednesday was 2x, so winning tickets with the Power Play option added will be worth twice their normal prize value.
Though nobody took home the $171 million jackpot, there were five new millionaires made Wednesday night. Players from Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey and New York all matched the five white numbers drawn to win Powerball’s $1 million second prize.
Another 30 players will take home one of the game’s third prizes. Five players who matched four white balls and the Powerball had added the Power Play option to their tickets, and will take home $20,000 second prizes.
The other 25 third prize winners will receive the normal $10,000 prize.
Overall, there were almost 600,000 tickets that matched a winning combination of numbers, making the total payout for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing $8.66 million in prize money.
Saturday’s $194 million jackpot carries with it a cash value of $110.7 million.
Players who won’t be able to catch the drawing on TV can still watch it on their smartphones with the LotteryHUB mobile app. iOS and Android users can even scan or save their tickets into the app, and LotteryHUB will email you after the drawing if it looks like you’re a winner.
