Feb. 10, 2014 – No tickets matched all six winning numbers in Saturday’s Powerball drawing, so the jackpot prize rolled over for the thirteenth time since it was last won on Christmas Day. For Wednesday’s drawing, the jackpot sits at an estimated $284 million.
Saturday night’s winning Powerball numbers were 24, 25, 34, 37, 54 and the red Powerball was 29. The Power Play multiplier drawn Saturday was 2x, so players with the multiplier added to their winning tickets will receive twice the normal prize value.
Though nobody won the jackpot prize, more than 900,000 players matched a winning combination of numbers Saturday night, including 10 new millionaires.
There were two new millionaires made in both California and New York Saturday night, and because California pays lottery prizes on a pari-mutuel basis, where the number of winners affects the prize amount, both second-prize winners there will receive about $1.3 million.
There were also second-prize winners in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia. All ten winners matched the five white numbers drawn Saturday night, and the eight winners outside California will all receive $1 million prizes.
Nearly 50 other players were also able to match five of the winning numbers drawn Saturday night, though these third-prize winners matched four white numbers and the Powerball.
Thirty-eight of those winners will receive Powerball’s normal $10,000 third prize, while another 10 third-prize winners added Power Play to their tickets, and will receive $20,000 prizes.
Altogether, the more than 900,000 winning tickets sold for Sautrday’s drawing collectively earned almost $15.7 million in prize money.
As the jackpot climbs nearer to “frenzy” levels, it’s important for players to keep track of their tickets. With the free LotteryHUB mobile app, iOS and Android users can enter and save their Powerball tickets right into their smartphone.
