April 10, 2014 – Nobody was able to match all six winning numbers in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, so the jackpot prize grew $14 million to reach an estimated $94 million ahead of Saturday’s drawing.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were 9, 14, 44, 48, 49 and the red Powerball was 29. The Power Play multiplier for Wednesday night was 2x, so players who added the optional multiplier to their tickets and won a prize will receive double the normal prize value.
Though nobody won the jackpot Wednesday, two players did become millionaires with Powerball. One winner in New York and another in Louisiana matched all five white numbers drawn Wednesday to win second prizes. Each will receive $1 million.
Twenty other winners also matched five numbers – four white numbers and the red Powerball – to win third prizes Wednesday. Three of those winners added the Power Play option to their tickets and will receive $20,000 third prizes. the remaining 17 third-prize winners will receive normal $10,000 third prizes.
There were more than 350,000 winners in all Wednesday night, together raking in about $3.9 million in non-jackpot prizes. About 77,000 winners added the Power Play option to their tickets, winning almost $800,000 altogether.
Saturday’s drawing will feature an estimated $94 million annuity jackpot with a cash value of about $54 million. Should nobody win the jackpot Saturday, the prize will roll over and pass the $100 million mark for the first time since late February.
Players hoping to win the jackpot Saturday and keep the smaller-jackpot win streak going will need to get themselves a Powerball ticket first. Click here for a state-by-state list of sales cutoff times for Powerball.
