Feb. 13, 2014 – No tickets matched all six winning numbers in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, so the jackpot prize grew nearly $50 million to reach an estimated $330 million ahead of Saturday’s drawing.
Wednesday night’s winning numbers were 36, 44, 49, 52, 57 and the red Powerball was 1. The Power Play multiplier drawn Wednesday night was 2x, so winners who had added the Power Play option to their tickets will see twice their normal prize value.
The giant Powerball jackpot prize has been attracting a lot of attention, and the number of winners in each drawing has started to increase along with the national interest. There were just fewer than 1 million winners Wednesday night who collectively won more than $13 million in non-jackpot prizes.
Eight players matched all five white numbers drawn Wednesday to win Powerball’s second prize. Two of those second-prize winning tickets were sold in Pennsylvania. California, Florida, Idaho, Michigan, New York and West Virginia each had a second-prize winner.
Except for the second-prize winner in California, all of those winners are new millionaires. Because California pays out lottery prizes on a pari-mutuel basis, where prize values depend on the number of winners, the second-prize winner there will receive a prize worth more than $720,000.
Another 42 players matched five of the winning numbers – four white numbers and the Powerball – to win third prizes Wednesday night. Three of those winners added Power Play to their tickets and will receive $20,000 third prizes, while the other 39 third-prize winners won the normal $10,000 prize.
Saturday night’s drawing will be held at 11 p.m. EST. The estimated $330 million jackpot carries with it a cash value worth $189 million.
When players save tickets into the app, LotteryHUB will check those tickets against the winning numbers after the drawing. If it looks like you’re a winner, LotteryHUB will send you an email to let you know.
