Powerball Jackpot Climbs Over $100 Million
June 16, 2013 – Nobody was able to score an $85 million Father’s Day gift on Saturday night’s Powerball drawing, which means the jackpot rolled over for the fourth time since the May 29 drawing.
Ahead of Wednesday’s drawing, Powerball officials estimate the jackpot at $105 million – a $63.9 million cash value that could grow with the excitement of a nine-digit jackpot up for grabs.
One lucky ticket-holder has a claim to a million-dollar prize from Saturday night’s drawing, the 13th second-prize winning ticket sold in the current run since May 29.
21 other lucky players were able to match four white balls and the Powerball, winning a combined $300,000.
Three of those 21 winners have tickets worth $40,000 because they chose to add the PowerPlay option to their tickets for an extra $1.
The numbers drawn Saturday night, June 15, were 28, 36, 40, 48, 55, and the Powerball number was 1.
The last jackpot, won on the drawing Wednesday, May 29, was the first ever Powerball jackpot won in Texas. The state lottery there began selling Powerball tickets in 2010.
That $40 million win went to Paul McDowell of Ravenna, Texas, who chose the cash option of $24,906,600 before taxes. McDowell requested minimal publicity after claiming his prize.
