Oct. 28, 2013 – The Powerball jackpot rolled over from its starting value of $40 million Saturday, growing by to reach $50 million ahead of Wednesday’s drawing.  Last Wednesday, a single ticket in California matched all six numbers to win a $213.4 million jackpot prize.

The numbers from Saturday’s drawing for the $40 million starting jackpot were 4, 6, 34, 49, 56 and the red Powerball 29.

Though nobody was able to match all six numbers, there were a total of five tickets sold matching all five white balls.  Those tickets, one each in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Nebraska, New York, and Ohio, are all worth $1 million.

None of the six tickets included the PowerPlay multiplier, which for an extra $1 would have doubled their prizes to $2 million.

An impressive 21 winners won the game’s third prize, six of whom chose to aadd PowerPlay to their tickets to multiply the regular $10,000 third prize to $40,000.

In total, about 485,000 Powerball players won one of the game’s nine prizes.  The sum of all prizes won Saturday night was a whopping $9,364,438.
