Pa. Lottery Kicks off the Holiday Season

Nov 04, 14 Pa. Lottery Kicks off the Holiday Season

Nov. 4, 2014 – The Pennsylvania Lottery got an early start on the holiday season, announcing the release of six new instant games last week.

The new games range in price from $1 to $20 and each is eligible for a special second chance promotion open to members of the Pennsylvania Lottery’s VIP Player’s Club.

This year’s new $1 holiday scratch-off is called Cookie Dough and offers players a chance to win a $5,000 top prize.  There are 30 top prizes available and the game’s overall odds are about 1 in 4.74

For $2 players can play Secret Santa, which offers players 12 ways to win on each ticket and a $25,000 top prize.

Merry & Bright is a new $3 scratch-off with more than $17 million in cash prizes waiting to be won.  15 of those prizes are the game’s $50,000 top prizes.

The new $5 holiday scratch-off released last week is Holiday Gifts, which has ten top prizes.  Each of those prizes is worth $100,000, and there are 15 ways to win on each ticket.  Odds of winning any of the games prizes are about 1 in 4.33.

For $10 players can get the new Freezin’ Greetings, which offers five chances to win on each ticket.  The game also has ten top prizes and the overall odds of winning a prize are about 1 in 3.2.

Finally, the sixth new holiday scratch-off from the Pennsylvania Lottery is called Peppermint Payout and costs $20.  There are 20 chances to win on each ticket and the game’s overall odds are 1 in 3.2.

Every one of the new holiday tickets are eligible for this year’s Holiday Cheer Second Chance Game, which gives players with non-winning holiday scratch-offs an extra chance to win prizes ranging from $25 to $100,000.

To take advantage of that chance, players must log into the Pennsylvania Lottery’s VIP Player’s Club and enter their tickets into the second chance game on a dedicated Holiday Cheer page.

When players enter their non-winning tickets in, they’ll be entered into the Grand Prize drawing for $100,000.  The price of the non-winning ticket entered determines the number of entries players will receive; a $20 ticket is worth 20 entries, a $5 ticket is worth 5 entries, etc.

Players can also win instant prizes between $25 and $500 when they enter, or they may have their number of entries doubled.

The entry deadline for the Holiday Cheer contest is Jan. 5, so players still have some time to get in the holiday spirit.
