Jan. 11, 2016 — Whew!!! How about those jackpots huh? Somebody went home $165 million dollars richer after winning the Mega Millions jackpot and Powerball’s jackpot is now higher than it ever has been in the history of the lottery. It’s a good time to be alive folks. Here’s a bit more information from this weekend’s games..
No one was able to match all six numbers for Powerball’s grand prize, which bumped the jackpot up to a staggering $1.4 BILLION dollars. More than 18 million Powerball players took home prizes, together winning a total of about $159 million in non-jackpot prize money! So there are a lot of happy campers out there.
As I mentioned earlier, Friday’s drawing produced a jackpot winner. The new jackpot has an estimated annuity value of $15 million, and carries with it a $9 million cash option.
While there were no jackpot winners, lots of players were lucky enough to take home non-jackpot prizes this weekend. There was just over two and a half million more players who were able to match a winning combination of numbers.
Congratulations to all of this weekend’s winners. Powerball and Mega Millions continue this week, starting Tuesday (January 12, 2015) with Mega Millions. Remember – you can’t win if you don’t play!
