New Jersey Powerball winners, Ocean’s 16, prep for press conference
After winning one third of the $448 million Powerball jackpot last week, a group calling themselves Ocean’s 16 are planning a press conference for Tuesday August 13 at 2:30pm EST.
Calling themselves “Ocean’s 16,” after the famous movie franchise, 16 Ocean County co-workers are celebrating their luck. After winning a portion of the Powerball jackpot last week, which reached $448 million for the drawing Wednesday August 7, the group is planning to come forward for a news conference. The news conference will take place at the Ocean County Library on Washington Street.
The winners are all employees of the Ocean County Vehicle Maintenance Department. The Ocean’s 16 purchased their winning ticket at the Acme in Little Egg Harbor, NJ.
The group of co-workers were excited to claim their prize. After taxes, the cash value of their shared prize will come to $86 million, giving each employee close to $5.3 million before taxes.
Although they have won, Ocean’s 16 is still showing up for work. Their boss came out saying “They are the most outstanding, dedicated group of people, and you’ll be so pleased to meet them.”
Stay tuned tomorrow for the press conference with 16 of New Jersey’s newest millionaires. The conference will be broadcast at 2:30pm EST on Tuesday August 13.
