The New Jersey Lottery has been trying to move to private ownership, but lottery employees are afraid they will lose their jobs.
The Communications Workers of America are fighting the move of the New Jersey Lottery to private ownership. The worker’s union stte they have yet to know whether their jobs will be safe after the move. Most lottery workers, who chose not to be names, are concerned their jobs will not be safe if the proposed move happens.
Currently, New Jersey governor Christie plans to award 15-year contract to Northstar New Jersey. Northstar is made up of lottery operators GTECH and Scientific Games. This company will control sales and marketing of the lottery.
The bill is currently on hold, and awaiting the necessary protest period to pass.
