Nebraska $1 million winner has yet to come forward

One person in Kimball, Nebraska has won $1 million but has yet to claim their big prize.

More proof to always keep your lottery tickets in a safe place comes from Nebraska this week. One lucky lottery player purchased a Mega Millions lottery ticket that ended up being worth $1 million. However the owner of this ticket has yet to come forward.

The winning ticket won by matching the first 5 balls of the Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday June 18. This person used the $1 Megaplier option, which caused their ticket to go from being worth $250,000 to $1 million. Megaplier is an offering from the Mega Millions multi-state lottery system that allows players to double, triple or even quadruple their prize if they win. It works similar to the Power Play option available for Powerball, the other America Multi-state lottery game.

By rules of the Nebraska Lottery, the winner has 180 to come forward before their ticket becomes voided.

To make sure this never happens to you, always find a safe place to keep and record your lottery tickets so you never miss out if you win. Also, make sure you always sign the back of any tickets purchased through the NEbraska Lottery, or any other state lotteries. If you do win, make sure you know how to properly claim your prize and protect yourself.
