N.J. Red Ball Doubling Prizes

Sept. 3, 2013 – Starting with today’s evening Pick 3 and Pick 4 drawings, the New Jersey Lottery will bring back its “Red Ball” promotion, which gives everyone a shot at doubling their Pick 3 and Pick 4 winnings for free.

The Red Ball promotion guarantees that at least once a week, Pick 3 and Pick 4 prizes will double.  After the evening drawings for each game, the Lottery will hold a special drawing out of a separate machine.

In that machine will be six white balls and the Red Ball – one ball for each day of the week.  If the Red Ball is drawn, all prizes on the Pick 3 or Pick 4 winning numbers drawn that night will automatically double.

If one of the six white balls is drawn, prizes won’t double, but that white ball will be removed from the Red Ball machine until a Red Ball is drawn.  That way, each day that the Red Ball is not drawn, the odds of prizes doubling increase.

The Red Ball promotion will start tonight, Sept. 2, and run until Sunday, Sept. 29.

New Jersey Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger said in a press release that the Red Ball promotion is just one of the “new ways to [excite players and enhance winnings]” the Lottery’s marketing team has come up with.

“The Red Ball promotion is a great time for new players to get in the game and for all our players to win even bigger,” Hedinger said.
