Minnesota Powerball Winner May Have Come Forward

Aug 8, 2013 – Reports from this afternoon say the Minnesota Lottery is in the process of verifying what could be the jackpot-winning ticket from last night’s Powerball drawing –  a ticket worth an estimated $149 million share of last night’s $448 million jackpot.

Debbie Hoffmann, a spokesperson for the Minnesota Lottery, told Reuters that the claim came in “very fast” by the Lottery’s standards.

Local CBS affiliate WCCO reported that if the ticket is verified as the winner of last night’s jackpot, the Minnesota Lottery will announce the name of the winner and the retailer where the ticket was purchased.

WCCO speculated that the winner was a single man in his 40’s, but could not confirm that ahead of the Lottery’s announcement.

The $448 million estimated jackpot was won by three ticket holders in last night’s drawing.  The potential Minnesota winner was one of the three, while both of the other tickets were sold in New Jersey.

The numbers drawn last night were 5, 25, 30, 58, 59, and the Powerball was 32.
