Millions Won on Cash 4 Life in N.J., N.Y.

Jul 15, 14 Millions Won on Cash 4 Life in N.J., N.Y.

July 15, 2014 – After their first month playing the new multi-state game “Cash 4 Life,” New Jersey and New York lottery players have raked in millions in collective winnings – more than $5.4 million in New York alone – and two players have won the game’s top prize.

Cash 4 Life was launched Monday, June 16, and has since made thousands of winners in each of its twice-weekly drawings.  In New York alone, just fewer than 1 million players have won one of the nine prizes offered by the game.

Two players from New York have already won the game’s top prize – $1,000 every day for life – and one player from each state was also lucky enough to win a second prize – $1,000 every week for life.

New York’s first top-prize winner bought their ticket at a 7-Eleven, located at 41-00 Bell Blvd., in Bayside.  The second winner bought their $1,000-a-day ticket at a Waldbaum’s store, located at 156-01 Crossbay Blvd., in Howard Beach.

New Jersey’s biggest winner far picked up their second-prize winning ticket at a Quick Check in Somerville, located at 1296 U.S. Highway Rt. 28.

New York’s second-prize winning ticket was bought at Vipra, Inc., located at 93 Main St. in East Rockaway.

The for-life annuity prizes are the game’s key features; when Cash 4 Life was introduced, lottery officials said the game owed its existence in part to players’ great response to “for life” prizes offered by scratch-offs.

And the game’s name isn’t just a daydream-inspiring advertisement.  The annuity prizes are, in fact, paid out “for life,” and have a minimum payout period of 20 years.  The minimum payout can even be willed to an heir, should a winner die before they can collect the guaranteed portion of their prize.

Of course, each prize also has a lump-sum, cash option if winners want their money up front.  First prize winners can choose a $7 million cash option, and second prize winners can take a $1 million cash option.

Which prize would you take?  Guaranteed income for life, or a cash prize you could invest (or spend) as you wanted?  Let us know on our Facebook page, or tweet to us @LotteryHUB.

The next Cash 4 Life drawing is just a few days away, so good luck!  Hopefully you’ll be making the “Cash 4 Life” or cash up front choice sooner than you think.
