June 26, 2013 – Tonight’s Powerball drawing ends the weekday drawing cycle for multi-state jackpot games, after the Mega Millions rolled over once again Tuesday night, reaching $61 million ahead of Friday’s drawing.
A Philadelphia beer distributor sold a $131.5 million winning ticket for last Saturday’s Powerball drawing, so ahead of tonight’s drawing the jackpot has reset to $40 million.
Though nobody has won the Mega Millions jackpot in the past six drawings, there have been almost 30 second-tier winners on the game. Most recently, a California man claimed $729,000 after arriving at the claims office expecting only $7,000.
And after an exciting run up to record territory, the Euromillions jackpot worth £159,559,034 – about $245 million in U.S. money – was split by two tickets in Ireland and Belgium.
While no information has been released as to the whereabouts of the Belgian winner, Euromillions officials announced this afternoon that the winning ticket in the Republic of Ireland had been sold in County Dublin, according to The Mirror Online.
Employees at a County Kildare Supervalu are likely kicking themselves for popping celebratory champagne too soon. The store’s HR manager was certain they had sold the winning ticket, and didn’t wait for confirmation before celebrating.
