Oct. 16, 2013 – Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing did not make anyone $29 million richer overnight, meaning the jackpot rolled again, this time reaching an estimated $37 million ahead of Friday’s drawing, with a $25 million cash option.
The numbers drawn Tuesday were 4, 23, 30, 43, 50, and the Mega Ball, 11. The Megaplier number drawn was 4x, meaning players who added Megaplier to their tickets can expect four times the normal amount of prize money on non-jackpot prizes.
Although there was no ticket matching all six numbers drawn Tuesday, two very lucky players matched the first five numbers drawn to win second-tier prizes.
One of those tickets was sold in Texas, and is now worth $250,000. The other Match 5 winner was sold in Maryland, and the ticket holder chose to add the Megaplier option to their ticket, making that second-tier prize worth $1 million.
Megaplier tickets that match the five white balls are automatically $1 million prizes, regardless of which Megaplier was drawn. With Tuesday’s 4x Megaplier, though, there was big money won all around.
Three players who added the Megaplier option to their tickets matched four of Tuesday’s white balls and the Mega Ball, winning third-tier prizes “megaplied” to $40,000.
More than $1.8 million was won in Megaplier prizes last night, nearly half of the $3.75 million paid out in prizes to over 423,000 winners.
