Jan. 13, 2014 – The Mega Millions jackpot rolled over Friday night, the second rollover since a mother and son from Tennessee won a $61 million jackpot Jan. 3. Ahead of Tuesday night’s drawing, the jackpot sits at an estimated $30 million.
The winning numbers drawn Friday night were 8, 28, 36, 37, 57 and the Mega Ball was 8. The Megaplier drawn Friday was 3x, meaning winning tickets with the Megaplier option added would be worth three times their normal value.
While nobody was able to match all six numbers drawn Friday, there were two winning tickets sold matching all five white numbers.
Those tickets were sold in California and Nebraska; the winner in Nebraska will receive Mega Millions’ $1 million second prize, while the winner in California will receive $901,026 before taxes, because California pays lottery prizes on a pari-mutuel basis.
Twenty-seven Mega Millions players also managed to match five of the winning numbers drawn Friday night. All of these third-prize winners matched four of the five white numbers and the Mega Ball, and each will receive a $5,000 prize.
More than $4.55 million in prize money was won by just less than 1.2 million winners in Friday night’s drawing.
Tuesday night’s $30 million jackpot carries with it a cash value of about $16 million, and the drawing will be held at 11 p.m.
Don’t forget to pick up your Mega Millions tickets before sales close ahead of the drawing. Remember: you can’t win if you don’t play.
