Mega Millions Rolls Over Ahead of Changes

Oct. 21, 2013 – Friday’s Mega Millions drawing did not make any jackpot winners, so the jackpot rolled to $55 million ahead of Tuesday’s drawing, the first under the game’s new format.

Friday night’s numbers were 5, 20, 45, 48, 56 and the Mega Ball was 1.  The Megaplier drawn Friday was 4x.

Five lucky players were able to match the first five numbers drawn Friday, scoring second prizes.  Those tickets were sold in Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.

The Illinois Mega Millions player also added the Megaplier option to their ticket Friday, meaning they’ll score a $1 million prize, rather than the normal $250,000 second prize.

Overall, nearly 400,000 Mega Millions players were winners Friday night, collectively raking in over $4.3 million in prize money.

Tuesday’s drawing, with a $55 million estimated jackpot, will introduce changes to the way Mega Millions is played.  The changes have been put in place to encourage faster-growing jackpots and more overall winners.
