March 2, 2014 – Nobody matched all six winning numbers in Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing so the game’s top prize rolled over to reach an estimated $240 million ahead of Tuesday’s draw.
Friday’s winning Mega Millions numbers were 3, 31, 50, 58, 59 and the Mega Ball was 6. Friday’s Megaplier was 4x, so winners who added the Megaplier option to their tickets will receive four times their normal prize value.
There was one new millionaire made Friday night; one ticket sold in Georgia matched all five white numbers but missed the Mega Ball. That winner did not add Megaplier to their ticket, so they’ll receive Mega Millions’ normal $1 million second prize.
There were 39 lucky players who matched four white numbers and the Mega Ball Friday night to win third prizes. Two of those players added the Megaplier option to their tickets, so they’ll take home $20,000 third prizes.
The other 37 players who won third prizes will receive Mega Millions’ normal, $5,000 third prize.
Overall, more than 2.7 million players won one of Mega Millions’ nine prizes Friday night, collecting a total of more than $1.6 million in non-jackpot prize money.
Tuesday night’s drawing will feature the estimated $240 million annuity jackpot, which carries a cash value of about $133 million.
Players looking to get in on the big jackpot action need to be sure to purchase their tickets before sales close ahead of Tuesday’s drawing. For a state-by-state list of Mega Millions sales cutoff times, read this post.
