March 23, 2014 – Nobody won the $15 million jackpot up for grabs in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing, so the prize rolled over for the first time in a new run. An estimated $414 million jackpot was split by two tickets last Tuesday, resetting the jackpot for Friday’s draw.
The winning numbers Friday night were 2, 23, 30, 35, 53 and the Mega Ball was 10. Friday’s Megaplier was 5x, so players who added the Megaplier option to their tickets and won a prize will receive five times the normal prize value.
One Megaplier winner scored the highest possible Mega Millions prize Friday night, a $5 million second prize. The multi-million dollar winning ticket was sold in New Hampshire, and was the only ticket sold to match all five white numbers to win a second prize.
Twenty-six other winners matched five of the six winning numbers – four white numbers and the Mega Ball – to win Mega Millions’ third prize. Each of the 26 will receive $5,000; there were no third-prize winning tickets with Megaplier added.
Though “jackpot fever” has cooled a bit since Tuesday’s $414 million win, there were still plenty of Mega Millions players in on Friday’s drawing.
More than 1.2 million of those dedicated players won a prize Friday night, collectively winning more than $8.25 million in non-jackpot prizes.
Along with the $5 million second prize there were another $1.2 million in Megaplier prizes won Friday, but only about 140,000 players added the optional multiplier to their tickets.
The next Mega Millions drawing will be held Tuesday at about 11 p.m., and the estimated $20 million jackpot carries with it an $11 million cash value.
