Mega Millions Passes $100 Million

Feb. 5, 2014 – No players were able to match all six winning numbers in Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing.  The jackpot prize rolled over for the eighth time since it was last won, growing to an estimated $107 million ahead of Friday’s drawing.

The winning Mega Millions numbers drawn Tuesday night were 25, 44, 49, 60, 73 and the Mega Ball was 9.  Tuesday’s Megaplier number was 3x, so non-jackpot winning tickets with Megaplier will triple in value.

Though nobody got “Mega” rich with a jackpot win, there was one Mega Millions player who became a new millionaire Tuesday night, or nearly.  One ticket sold in California matched all five white numbers drawn to win Mega Millions second prize.

But, because California pays out lottery prizes on a pari-mutuel basis and prize amounts there are affected by the total number of winners, Tuesday’s top Mega Millions winner will receive a $910,781 prize.

Twenty-seven other players matched four of the white numbers and the Mega Ball Tuesday to win third prizes.  24 of those players will receive Mega Millions’ normal, $5,000 third prize, while the other three winners, who added Megaplier to their tickets, scored $15,000 Tuesday.

Overall, nearly 1.5 million players won one of Mega Millions’ eight non-jackpot prizes Tuesday night.  Their prizes add up to more than $4.1 million.

Friday night’s drawing will be held at 11 p.m. EST, and the estimated $107 million jackpot carries with it a cash value worth approximately $59 million.

Mega Millions ticket sales close at different times in each state.  Read this post to see how late you can buy Mega Millions tickets.
