Jan. 8, 2014 – The Mega Millions jackpot rolled over for the first time in 2014 Tuesday night, after no tickets were able to match all six of the winning numbers drawn. Tuesday night’s $15 million starting prize rolled to $20 million ahead of Friday night’s drawing.
The winning numbers drawn Tuesday were 13, 34, 56, 62, 64 and the Mega Ball was 6. The Megaplier drawn Tuesday night was 5x, the highest multiplier that can be applied to non-jackpot prizes in the game.
While nobody was able to match all six numbers to win the $15 million top prize, there was one Mega Millions player who scored a $1 million second prize by matching the first five numbers drawn.
Had that player added the Megaplier option to their ticket for an extra $1, their second-tier prize would have multiplied to $5 million – the highest non-jackpot prize possible.
Several players were lucky enough to match five numbers – four of the white balls and the Mega Ball – Tuesday night. Two of these third prize winners added the Megaplier option to their tickets to win $25,000 prizes, while 12 more players will receive the normal $5,000 third prize.
Overall, Tuesday night’s drawing made more than one million Mega Millions players winners. The sum of all prizes won in Tuesday night’s drawing was more than $3.5 million.
Friday night’s drawing will be held at about 11 p.m., and the estimated jackpot prize is a $20 million annuity.
