Aug. 25, 2015 — The Mega Millions jackpot continued climbing after nobody was able to match the six winning numbers Tuesday night. Ahead of Friday’s drawing, the annuity jackpot has an estimated $64 million value, and carries with it an estimated cash value of $40 million.
Tuesday’s winning numbers were 5, 44, 54, 59, 63 and the Mega Ball was 1. The Megaplier drawn Tuesday was 5x, so players who added the optional multiplier to their tickets and won will receive five times their prizes’ normal values.
Unfortunately there were no new millionaires made Tuesday night, as nobody matched all five of the white numbers drawn. However, there were 10 players lucky enough to match four white numbers and the Mega Ball to win $5,000 third prizes. For two of those 10 winners, an extra dollar is really paying off; two third-prize winners added Megaplier to their tickets, multiplying their prizes to $25,000.
About 270 other players won fourth prizes Tuesday. 30 fourth prize winners used Megaplier to multiply their winnings from $500 to $2,500, guaranteeing they’ll need to take a trip to their lottery claims office to pick up their big prize.
In all there were about 1,010,000 winners made Tuesday night. The drawing paid out almost $2.5 million, including about $1 million in Megaplier prizes, or 40 percent of the total haul.
But the jackpot remains untouched. For your chance to win the $64 million annuity prize, be sure to pick up your tickets before sales close ahead of the drawing. Good luck!
