Jan. 20, 2014 – Nobody won the $41 million jackpot featured in Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing, so the game’s top prize rolled over again, reaching $51 million ahead of Tuesday night’s drawing.
The winning numbers drawn Friday were 1, 10, 26, 31, 51 and the Mega Ball was 11. The Megaplier drawn Friday, which would multiply non-jackpot prizes by the number drawn, for those who added the option to their tickets, was 4x.
Two winners from Friday night’s drawing matched the first five numbers drawn but missed the Mega Ball. Both players, from Maryland and Texas, are new millionaires. The winning ticket sold in Texas, though, had the Megaplier option added to it, and is worth $4 million. The winner in Maryland will receive the normal $1 million second prize.
There were 44 winners who matched four of the five white numbers and the Mega Ball to win Mega Millions’ third prize, four of whom added the Megaplier option to their tickets for an extra $1.
Those four Megaplier winners will receive $20,000 second prizes, while the 40 other third-prize winners will get Mega Millions’ regular, $5,000 third prize.
In total, more than $8.3 million in prizes were won on Friday night’s drawing, spread across about 1.3 million winning tickets.
Tuesday’s estimated $51 million jackpot carries with it a cash value of $27 million. Be sure to pick up your Mega Millions tickets before sales close ahead of the drawing; remember: you can’t win if you don’t play.
