April 21, 2014 – Nobody matched all six winning numbers in Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing, so the jackpot prize rolled over to an estimated $48 million ahead of Tuesday night’s drawing.
The winning numbers drawn Friday night were 18, 25, 38, 45, 63 and the Mega Ball was 9. Friday’s Megaplier was 2x, so players who added the optional multiplier to their tickets and won a prize will receive double the normal prize amount.
No players won second prizes Friday night. But, while there were no new millionaires made in the drawing, 18 players did match five out of six numbers – four white numbers and the Mega Ball – to win third prizes.
Fifteen of those third-prize winners will receive Mega Millions’ normal $5,000 third prize, while the other three will receive $10,000 prizes because they added the Megaplier option to their tickets.
Altogether, nearly 1.2 million players won a Mega Millions prize Friday night, including about 135,000 winners who used the Megaplier option to double their winnings.
More than $2.3 million was won Friday night, including about $420,000 in Megaplier winnings.
Tuesday night’s drawing will feature the estimated $48 million annuity jackpot, which carries with it a cash value of about $27 million.
Players who want to take their chance at winning should remember to pick up their Mega Millions tickets before sales close ahead of Tuesday’s drawing; read this post for a state-by-state list of sales cutoff times.
