Feb. 26, 2014 – Nobody won Tuesday night’s estimated $195 million Mega Millions jackpot, so the big prize rolled over, growing to an estimated $216 million ahead of Friday night’s drawing.
Tuesday’s winning Mega Millions numbers were 12, 18, 25, 35, 66 and the Mega Ball 15. The Megaplier drawn was 5x, so winning tickets with Megaplier added for last night’s drawing will be worth five times their normal prize value.
Tuesday’s drawing did make two new millionaires; one player in Arizona and another in Maryland matched all five white numbers drawn Tuesday night. Each will receive a $1 million second prize, though had they added Megaplier to their tickets, they could have won $5 million.
Five players who matched a different five-number combination – four white numbers and the Mega Ball – did take advantage of the Megaplier option, and will receive $25,000 for their third prizes.
Fifty-two players in all won a third prize Tuesday night. The remaining 47 third-prize winners will receive Mega Millions’ normal $5,000 prize.
More than 2.2 million Mega Millions players matched a winning combination of numbers Tuesday night, scooping about $7.75 million in non-jackpot prizes.
About 220,000 players added the Megaplier option to their tickets, and Megaplier winnings made up more than $2 million of Tuesday’s total prize payout.
Friday’s drawing will be held at 11 p.m. EST, and the estimated $216 million annuity jackpot carries with it a cash value of $119 million.
