Jan. 22, 2014 – Nobody matched all six winning numbers drawn in Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing, so the jackpot prize rolled over again to reach an estimated $62 million ahead of Friday night’s drawing.
The winning numbers drawn Tuesday night were 8, 25, 33, 45, 52 and the Mega Ball was 4. The Megaplier drawn Tuesday was 4x, which means tickets with the Megaplier option added that win a prize will be worth four times their normal value.
While nobody matched all six of those winning numbers, there were two players who matched all five white numbers drawn to win Mega Millions’ second prize. Those two tickets, sold in Minnesota and Ohio, are now worth $1 million each.
Neither of those players chose to spend an extra $1 to add the Megaplier option to their tickets, which would have multiplied their second prizes to $4 million.
Three third-prize winners did spend that extra $1 on Megaplier, so their normal $5,000 prizes were multiplied to $20,000 prizes. Another 20 winners also matched four white numbers and the Mega Ball to win Mega Millions’ $5,000 third prize.
There were a total of more than 1.1 million tickets sold for Tuesday’s drawing that matched a winning combination of numbers. Those winners collectively won more than $4.75 million in non-jackpot prizes.
Friday’s estimated $62 million annuity jackpot carries with it a cash value worth about $33 million. The drawing will be held at 11 p.m. EST Friday night, and ticket sales will close shortly before the drawing. To see when your state lottery stops selling tickets ahead of a drawing, click here.
