Massachusetts couple almost throws away $1 million
After forgetting to get it out of their grocery bag, a Massachusetts couple almost throws away scratch-off ticket worth $1 million.
Everyone has done it. Throws something into the trash only to go digging through bags of garbage to find the one thing they need. One Massachusetts couple experienced this same thing. What did they end up needing? A Massachusetts Lottery scratch-off worth $1 million.
Joseph and Joanne Zagami bought a $5 Massachusetts Lottery scratch-off while grocery shopping. After arriving home, the ticket got lost in their grocery bags and ended up in the trash. The next day they went digging for the ticket they had inadvertently put in the trash.
Good thing hey did, because their ticket ended up winning them $1 million. The North Attleborough couple chose a one time payment, receiving $650,000. They plan to use the money to pay bills and take a much needed vacation.
To avoid having to dig through your trash, we suggest keeping track of all lottery tickets by writing your name on the back, just in case. We recommend recycling all old scratch-off tickets. Whether you put them in your recycle receptacle or see if they are part of a second chance drawing, it’s always better to recycle!
