Maryland prepares for poker room
The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission is preparing to open a 2-story poker room in time for Labor Day weekend.
The Maryland Lottery will soon have a friend in the gambling world. Maryland Live requested to open a poker room in Maryland that would consist of 2 stories and 52 tables of poker, making it the largest poker room in the region. The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission recently approved the plan to build the poker room, with plans to open it by August 28, 2013.
The plan was approved in a meeting on June 27, after hearing how Maryland Live plans to build and license the room for patrons to enjoy in time for Labor Day weekend. The MLGCC also approved development of a Horseshoe Casino by Caesars to continue on the location near downtown Baltimore. This will give Maryland gambling aficionados a chance to enjoy more chances to win in their state.
The MLGCC also controls the Maryland Lottery. Lottery officials have concerns regarding the casino and poker plans, fearing it may hurt sales. However, the state believes it could benefit from higher combined revenue and tourism from the casinos and poker plans
The new poker room will provide jobs and revenue for the state. They plan to train new poker dealers as well as bring in experienced dealers from casinos all over.
Look out for the Maryland Poker Room coming this summer. And be sure to play the Maryland Lottery in the meantime, for more ways to win with draw games, Powerball, Mega Millions, and scratch-offs.
