Dec 12, 14 LotteryHUB Weekly Review

Dec. 12, 2014 – There’s only two Fridays left in the year, but even though 2015 is a stone’s throw away, there’s still lots of time to win big.

And with the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots both hovering around $100 million, now is a great time to start looking at a multi-million dollar last-minute gift idea for yourself.

December has already been a pretty lucky month; we’ll review the past week’s drawings in the Weekly Jackpot Update below.

In Weekly Game News this week, a couple of big winners may be out a million bucks, and word has started to spread of some new games for the country’s newest lottery.

Weekly Jackpot Update

Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot has an estimated $102 million value and carries with it a cash value of $63 million.

Along the way some 2.7 million Mega Millions players won prizes – about 1.38 million players won Saturday and another 1.3 million players won Tuesday night.

Altogether those winners raked in a total of $8 million in non-jackpot prizes, and one player from Massachusetts became a millionaire after matching all five white numbers to win a second prize.

Tomorrow night’s Powerball jackpot has an estimated $70 million value, and the cash value for that prize is an estimated $44.1 million.

About 723,000 Powerball players won prizes this week.  Saturday’s drawing made about 371,000 winners and Wednesday night’s drawing made more than 350,000 winners.

Three of those lucky winners can call themselves millionaires after winning second prizes.  Tickets sold in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania are each worth $1 million; a third winner in Maryland added the Power Play multiplier to their ticket to multiply their second prize to $2 million.

Altogether, this week’s Powerball winners collected more than $8.5 million in non-jackpot winnings.

For your chance to win this weekend – and maybe retire early – be sure to pick up your tickets before sales close ahead of the drawings.

Good luck!

Weekly Game News

Are you a millionaire?  Do you want to be? Then check your tickets!

This week we had two announcements that $1 million lottery tickets would soon expire, and I’m afraid to say that another  would-be millionaire  officially missed their ticket to the good life yesterday.

We told you about that winning ticket, sold in New York, last week.  As of this afternoon, the New York Lottery has not reported any winners claiming the prize before it expired at 5 p.m. Thursday.

This week’s unclaimed ticket announcements come from New Mexico and Texas.  The winner in Texas has until Sunday to claim their prize, a $1 million Mega Millions win.

While they can claim at any Lottery claims center until 5 p.m. today, they’ll need to fill out a claims form if they want to safeguard their win for the weekend.

Click here to see where the winning ticket was purchased, and for details on claiming prizes on the weekend.

In New Mexico, the countdown clock for a $1 million Powerball prize runs out on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve.

New Mexico Lottery CEO David Bardem put it best when he said: “If ever there was a time to clean out every nook and cranny in your home and car, this is it.”

In other game news this week, we continued looking at 2014 as a whole and named the luckiest Powerball states so far in a video on the LotteryHUB app.

Thanks for reading this week’s Weekly Review, and be sure to check your tickets – we don’t want to write about more expiring tickets!
