LotteryHUB Weekly Review

March 14, 2014 – Happy Friday and welcome back to the LotteryHUB Weekly Review.  St. Patrick’s Day is Monday, meaning the weekend will likely be dedicated to Paddy’s Day celebrations all across the country.

For that reason, our jackpot daydreams were more green than usual thinking about tonight’s giant Mega Millions jackpot.  Earlier today we suggested just a few ways to spend the $194 million cash option for tonight’s jackpot.

Weekly Jackpot Update

That’s the big news this Friday – the Mega Millions jackpot is sitting at an estimated $353 million for tonight’s drawing.  Players all across the country are crossing their fingers that the “luck o’ the Irish” will come a little early this year and help out with a Mega Millions win.

Tonight’s Mega Millions drawing will be held at 11 p.m., and there’s still time to pick up tickets.  To see how late you can buy Mega Millions tickets in your state, check out this post.

While Mega Millions has been stealing the spotlight for the past few weeks, Powerball’s jackpot survived the past few drawings and has grown to an estimated $70 million for Saturday’s drawing.

The cash value for the estimated annuity prize is worth $39.5 million and, while it’s not a nearly $200 million windfall, that kind of money is life-changing.

Players can read this post to see how late they’ll be able to buy Powerball tickets before tomorrow’s drawing.  Once you’ve got your ticket, don’t forget that you can save your numbers into the LotteryHUB app, and we’ll check them for you.

When the winning numbers come up, we’ll check them against your ticket and see if you’ve matched a winning combination of numbers.  If it looks like you’re a winner, LotteryHUB will send you an email.

As always, players can watch tomorrow’s Powerball drawing live, right from their smartphone with the LotteryHUB mobile app, free for iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

Weekly Game News

This week was exciting right away after the news that three players, all playing different games, each cashed in million-dollar winning scratch off tickets on the same day.

The Florida Lottery had a lot of big checks to write that morning, and lottery officials were just as excited as the big winners to have three new millionaires made on the same day.

Tuesday was an exciting day in Missouri after the Lottery and Welch ATM announced that 50 automated teller machines in St. Louis would debut electronic lottery ticket sales from ATMs.

According to a press release from Welch ATM, another 50 machines will start selling Lottery tickets in Kansas City soon.

Wednesday was the New Hampshire Lottery’s fiftieth birthday!  Congratulations to the New Hampshire Lottery for 50 years of raising funds for New Hampshire schools!

Along with some cake (maybe), the New Hampshire Lottery is celebrating its birthday by offering players a scratch-off ticket with the highest-ever payout in the state, a $2 million top prize.

They’re also offering players a chance to win a $50,000 prize through a promotional giveaway that’s completely free.  Just head to the Lottery’s website and enter for your chance to win.

Finally, on Thursday we tipped off D.C. Lottery players to a new Lottery promotion sure to please any March Madness fans.

The Bracket Bucks promotion from the D.C. Lottery pits the Lottery’s draw games against one another in a sales contest.  Whichever game has the highest sales in a given week wins the round and advances to the next.

Then, each time a game advances, players who entered tickets from that game will have a chance to win cash prizes in a weekly drawing.
