LotteryHUB Weekly Review

Jan. 31, 2014 – Welcome to the weekend and goodbye, January.  Today is the final day of the month, which (hopefully) means that half the country is closer still to being rid of the “Polar Vortex.”

This week on LotteryHUB News, we introduced you to several new games around the nation and St. Patrick’s Day’s influence started to show in earnest, though nobody channelled the luck of the Irish to win a multi-state jackpot.

Weekly Jackpot Update

Wednesday’s estimated $171 million Powerball jackpot wasn’t won, so the prize rolled over after the mid-week drawing to $194 million.

Wednesday’s drawing showed the first signs of jackpot fever as nearly 600,000 winners walked away with a prize, including five new millionaires and a whopping 30 third-prize winners.

Since returning to a drawn multiplier, the Power Play number has yet to reach 4x or 5x – Saturday could be the night.  Players hoping to cash in on jackpot fever could win as much as $2 million or five times the normal prize amount for non-jackpot prizes with Power Play.

Also escaping its mid-week drawing was the Mega Millions jackpot, which sits at an estimated $84 million for tonight’s drawing, with a lump-sum cash value worth about $46 million.

Altogether, this weekend’s jackpot prizes up for grabs total about $278 million, and the total cash value behind those annuity jackpots is more than $150 million.

Weekly Game News

Following the Oregon Lottery’s St. Patrick’s Day Raffle, a handful of other lotteries have begun to offer St. Patrick’s Day themed games, including the Connecticut Lottery, whose 50/50 Super Draw is all set for March 17.

The Super Draw is a true 50/50, where half of all the proceeds from ticket sales go to the winner, though the Lottery has set a guaranteed $100,000 prize.

Last year’s winner collected more than $300,000 though, so players looking for great odds at winning a huge amount of money should start getting tickets for the Super Draw now.

Also released this week, sporting Kelly green, shamrocks, and a little leprechaun, are the Pennsylvania Lottery’s St. Patrick’s Day themed scratch-offs.

Dublin Dollars and Leprechaun Loot are the two new scratch-off games, and along with chances to win instant cash prizes, players can also enter non-winning tickets into the Lottery’s St. Patrick’s Day Payout, which will award 10 winners $17,000 prizes on St. Patrick’s Day.

In other game news, also from the Pennsylvania Lottery, a new $30 ticket has been released sporting top prizes worth an incredible $10 million, and second prizes worth $1 million.

The new game tops the Lottery’s price offerings, just like a similar game launched recently in Ohio.

Finally, speaking of Ohio, players there can look forward to free Keno tickets every Friday in February through a special promotion from the Ohio Lottery.

Every Friday from 4-9 p.m., every fiftieth Keno ticket purchased will come with four free tickets, each worth $1 and featuring a different amount of play-spots.

LotteryHUB News News

This week, we gave away a top-of-the-line digital SLR camera from Canon through a LotteryHUB Rewards drawing.

There are plenty more prizes for Lottery players to win through LotteryHUB Rewards, though, so be sure to enter your Rewards points into the next drawing.

Don’t forget that iOS and Android users can now enter or scan Powerball tickets into the LotteryHUB mobile app, and after the drawing, we’ll send you an email if it looks like you’ve won.

Good luck in tonight’s Mega Millions drawing and Saturday’s Powerball drawing!
