LotteryHUB Weekly Review

Jan. 10, 2014 – Happy New Year and welcome back to the LotteryHUB Weekly Review, which (like you hopefully did) took a two-week hiatus during the holidays.  And now, just like everyone else out there – reality has settled back in; no mid-week holiday came to our collective rescue during this, the first normal work-week of the new year.

For some very lucky folks in Kansas City, Mo., Tennessee, and California, this week may have been the start of a new life of blissful unemployment supported by an enormous bank account.

A Kansas City couple got the ultimate Christmas present – a $71.5 million Powerball jackpot which they picked up just three days into 2014.

Steve Tran remembered last week that he’d visited the very shop in San Jose where the winning ticket for half of December’s $648 million Mega Millions jackpot was sold.  At 3 a.m. last Monday, he had about 324 million reasons to celebrate when he found that the winning ticket was indeed his ticket.

And rounding out an impressive start to jackpot wins in the New Year, a single ticket in Tennessee matched all six numbers drawn in last Friday’s Mega Millions drawing, netting $61 million for the lucky winner.  Hopefully they saved a few noisemakers from the New Year’s Eve party.

Weekly Jackpot Update

Congratulations to all of those winners – now it’s everyone else’s turn.  There is an estimated $100 million up for grabs in this weekend’s Powerball and Mega Millions drawings, and since jackpot fever has worn off, regular players have a bit of a better chance to beat the odds and walk off with a life-changing sum of money.

After rolling over four times, Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is worth an estimated $80 million, and that annuity prize carries with it a $44.1 million cash value.

The drawing will be held at 11 p.m. EST, and as always, players can watch it live, right from their smartphone with the LotteryHUB mobile app for iOSAndroid, and Windows Phone.

Tonight is Mega Millions night, and since the jackpot reset following that lucky Tennessee player’s win, it has reached an estimated $20 million annuity, with a cash value worth upwards of $10 million.

(For players using the Mega Millions website to check their numbers – due to the incredible number of winning tickets sold the night the $648 million jackpot was won, the Mega Millions website has been displaying those winning numbers on the homepage.  Click “winning numbers” at the top of the page, then “Search Winning Numbers” on the top left and scroll down to the bottom for the most recent numbers.)

Good luck in tonight’s Mega Millions drawing and tomorrow’s Powerball drawing, and don’t forget to buy your tickets before it’s too late.  You can find sales cut-off times for Mega Millions here, and for Powerball here.

This Week in Lottery Games

Along with the jackpot winners mentioned above, winners from several states’ special holiday raffles have come forward to claim giant cash prizes.

In Montana, the grand prize winner – a new millionaire – has yet to come forward to claim their prize.  One of two $100,000 winners and one of three $10,000 winners from the Montana Millionaire drawing have already come forward.

The Pennsylvania Lottery this week listed the retail locations where winning tickets for their Millionaire Raffle were sold.

There were 6,000 prizes awarded in total, so not every retail location could be listed, but the Lottery’s website did provide a complete list of the winning raffle numbers.  A link to that list was included in this post on LotteryHUB News.

Also in big game news this week, the Hoosier Lottery’s Hoosier Millionaire show will be back on TV this summer.  The Lottery announced this week that the popular game would return after an eight-year break, and there will be five regional, game-show style contests to determine contestants for the televised event.

A sixth contestant for the Hoosier Millionaire show will also be chosen out of the audience, read more to see how to get your big shot at the small screen.

Finally, very exciting news came out of Texas this week, where officials from the Texas Lottery proposed a new draw-game for players in the state.  The proposed new game would be called Texas Triple Chance, and players would have to match seven numbers out of 10 to win a $100,000 jackpot prize.

New Prizes in LotteryHUB Rewards

A new year has brought some awesome new prizes to LotteryHUB Rewards, including another iPad Air and a top-of-the-line DSLR camera from Canon, the EOS Rebel 13.

The LotteryHUB app is free to download, and iOS and Android users can register with their email address and their age (we need to make sure you’re 18 or older) to start racking up the Rewards points.

LotteryHUB users earn points for reading news, checking numbers, and watching LotteryHUB’s exclusive video content, and those points can be used as entries into LotteryHUB Rewards drawings.

Players who register with LotteryHUB will also get the most out of the mobile app with our new winner notification tool.  With version 4.0 of the LotteryHUB app, we introduced our ticket entry tool that will check your Powerball tickets against the winning numbers.

By choosing the “Notify Me of Winning Tickets” option, players can store their numbers ahead of time and receive email alerts when their stored numbers match the winning numbers drawn.

Be sure to enter your tickets before you head out Saturday, and missing the drawing won’t be such a big deal.  With the LotteryHUB app, you can watch it wherever you are, right from your smartphone, or watch it later on.

Good luck in this weekend’s drawings, and keep your fingers crossed that this is your last full week of work.
