The Florida Lottery is warning players to be wary of a recent lottery scam that is attempting to steal personal information.
In a statement released Wed June 26, the Florida Lottery told the public they had received information on a lottery scam that was gathering personal information of people in the name of the lottery.
If anyone receives information from a company going by the name “Lotto Claims Associate & Sweepstake Inc” do not send them any information. This company has no affiliation with the Florida a lot terry or any other state lottery systems. The company is sending people letters stating that their lottery prizes are being held until they send correct address information.
The Florida Lottery wants to assure all players that the lottery will never request personal information through email or phone. The Florida Lottery as well as all state lotteries want people to know that their goal is to provide fun ways to win, and do not ask for any personal information unless the winner is in person.
All lottery players should know that if they win, they will not be asked to pay any up front costs. Any company requesting information or funds is not affiliated with any lottery.
