Idaho Man Goes Fishing, Opens a Whole New Can Of Worms

June 11, 2013 – This past Sunday, on his way to a secret fishing spot on the Boise River, Ed Cook stopped into a Fred Meyer store in Meridian to buy some worms for bait, but left $300,000 richer.

Cook bought a $300,000 Spectacular scratch-off ticket and scratched off one of the game’s grand prizes.

“I started to scratch off my prize [and] it was a three, and those zeros just kept coming,” Cook said.  “After that, well, I never did end up going fishing.”

The $300,000 Spectacular offers the largest grand prize of any Idaho scratch-off ticket, and only one more $300,000 prize remains.

With his big win, Cook said he plans to pay off his bills and take some time for himself.

“I might just go fishing the rest of the week,” he said.  “And maybe the rest of the summer.”
