Hoosier Lottery Welcomes New Hometown Host

Aug. 19, 2013 – The Hoosiers have spoken!  At the Indiana State Fair Friday, a panel of local celebrity judges named Chayzee Smith the winner of the Hoosier Lottery’s “Hometown Host” Contest.

The contest began in late July, after the Hoosier Lottery announced that the Daily 3 and Daily 4 drawings were going back on the air, on FOX59.

The Lottery put out a casting call, asking Hoosiers to send in audition tapes and vote for their favorite contestants, one of whom would ultimately become the new Hometown Host for the daily drawings.

Smith was one of five contestants who received the most votes on HoosierLottery.com and FOX59.com to make it into the final round.  All five finalists were then judged by the celebrity panel in front of a live audience at the State Fair Friday.

Smith said it was “an awesome experience,” and that he is excited to “create memories for Hoosiers out there watching the drawings.”

He told the Lottery in his submission that as a child, “it was always exciting to sit around the tv with family and watch the numbers drop.”

When he saw the Lottery’s casting call, he “couldn’t pass up the chance to create memories for others.”

You can learn more about Smith and watch his audition video on the Lottery’s Hometown Host webpage.

Vice President of marketing at the Hoosier Lottery Jessica Powell told FOX59 that overwhelmingly want to see drawings televised.”

“Now that we have a Hometown Host winner, the Lottery is one step closer to getting the drawings back on the air and into Hoosier living rooms from Angola to Evansvill,” Powell said.
