July 11, 2013 – The Hoosier Lottery’s Independence Day Millionaire Raffle sold 300,000 tickets, but only one could make a millionaire, and that man claimed his prize Tuesday afternoon.
Jeff Vore, of Kokomo Ind., had the winning ticket – number 107460. Those six numbers made Vore, a heavy machinery operator, an instant millionaire last Friday.
But Vore has no plans of retiring, telling the Hoosier Lottery that he’s going to put his raffle winnings into the bank and keep working for his paychecks.
“I want this to have made a difference in forty years,” Vore said. “I want to be smart about it and hold onto it. I want this to earn money for me.”
With a million dollars in the bank, plenty of people spend a little bit here and there, paying off mortgages, buying new homes, or new cars.
For Vore, the only thing he’ll be splurging on is a brand new Harley Davidson, which he had already picked out at the dealership by the time he got his photo taken with an oversized check.
In his hometown of Kokomo, Vore isn’t the only big lottery winner of late. Two other residents won big on Hoosier Lottery scratch-off tickets, one worth $50,000 and the other $100,000.
Of the 300,000 players who purchased tickets for the millionaire raffle, 2,000 won prizes worth $100, and 10 lucky raffle players came out of the holiday weekend $10,000 richer.
39 of the $100 prizes went to players in Kokomo – one lucky town!
